Webquest: biographies

En tercer ciclo hemos estado trabajando con los pasados y las biografías, así que les he propuesto una webquest para fin de curso. Una Webquest consiste, básicamente, en presentarle a los alumnos una tarea que deben llevar a cabo, ofreciéndoles una guía del proceso de trabajo y un conjunto de recursos preestablecidos accesibles a través de Internet. Se hace en grupos pequeños, tratando de fomentar la cooperación y el trabajo en equipo. Buscamos que sean autónomos, aprendiendo a buscar la información por ellos mismos, a seleccionar lo más importante de todo lo que vayan leyendo, y que sean capaces de plasmarlo en sus propias palabras en una presentación final ante sus compañeros, utilizando la pizarra digital como apoyo.

En este caso, y siguiendo con el Plan de Fomento a la Lectura, les propongo una Webquest en torno a las biografías de varios escritores que posiblemente conocen (o han leído alguno de sus libros). Les he explicado en clase como deben hacerlo y aquí les dejo las instrucciones para que vayan desarrollándolo en los grupos que hemos hecho.

Step 1: Questions about your reading habits, and discussion in the group.

After comparing your answers, write a short paragraph about the reading habits in your group.


Step 2: Biographies


Each group will look for information about two of these authors:

- Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book.

- C.S. Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia.

- Jules Verne, author of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

- Mark Twain, author of Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

- Roald Dahl, author of Matilda.

Each group must find information about the two authors and answer some questions. Click on the authors you choose, and print the complete list of questions.

Here you have some interesting pages where you can find some information. You don't need to read EVERYTHING, just look for specific information to answer the questions. You can look for information in Spanish, but you have to answer the questions in English.

Step 3: Essay

With the information you have, each group has to write a short essay:

- Introduction about the reading habits in your group.

- Presentation about the author: look for some pictures on the Internet. Then put the information and the pictures in a Power Point presentation or a Word document to present it to the rest of the class.
